Artist and co-owner, along with his wife Linda, Vince Shuler of The Absolute Zoo,
offers a wide variety of art work, custom blacksmithing, and custom welding and
fabrication.
Having worked in a wide array of artistic mediums, such as painting
(water color, acrylic, and oil), hot and stained glass,
pen and ink, just to name a few,
Vince found his favorite medium to date, "Metal".
“Metal has that certain quality about it for the artist.
If heat it and treat it just right, you can do
wondrous things with it.” says Vince.
Vince also deals in the earlier form of metal working,
Blacksmithing. “This (blacksmithing) is the grassroots
of modern day metal working. A lot of people think that
blacksmithing is just mindless pounding on hot metal,
but it’s really so much more than just hitting the metal. Every hammer blow, every
turn, every heating has a purpose. With every blow
of the hammer, you coax out of the metal that which
you are trying to create! It really puts one in touch with
the metal, history, and your creativity!”
Vince also does blacksmithing demonstrations at several festivals,
re-enactment shows, and schools. Check out the "Schedule of Events" page

During the demonstrations, Vince gives a brief history lesson on the art of
blacksmithing, and tries to instill upon spectators, as well as the students in the
classroom, that any job worth doing, is worth doing well!
